Programmer Analyst – Plans, develops, tests and documents test programs, applying knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems. Evaluates user requirements for new or modified programs and determines specifications. Formulates plan outlining steps required to develop programs using various methodologies. Reviews screens, forms, etc. to industry standard framework and tools. Develops detailed instructions for logical steps for coding. May train users and also may oversee the hardware and software installation. Enters program codes into computer systems. Enters commands into system to run the test programs. Replaces, deletes, or modifies the programs to accommodate the users requirements. College Degree is required along with 1-3 years of experience for a Junior person to 8+ years for a Senior Person.

Programmer – Converts data from project specifications to create or modify computer programs. Develops applications as needed based on the user requirements as defined by Systems Analyst. The various skills (e.g Oracle, .NET Technologies, etc.) are a must for the person to perform the coding and developing programs. Writes detailed specifications and documentation for users or support persons. Involved in testing and debugging. Works along or as a member of a team. A college degree is required along with 1-3 experience for a junior level to 8+ years for a senior level.

Software Engineer – Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications, including software infrastructure and development tools. Supports and/or installs software applications, infrastructure and development tools. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. A college degree is required for the position along with 1-3 year experience for junior level, and a 8+ years experience for a senior level.

Systems Analyst – Understands business objectives and problems. Identifies alternative solutions. Performs feasibility studies and cost benefit analysis. Studies existing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develops new systems to improve production or specifications as required. Plans and prepares technical reports and documentations. Develops backup and recovery procedures. May prepare time and cost estimates for completing project. May direct or coordinate work of others to develop, test, install, and modify programs. A college degree is essential along with 1-3 years experience for a junior person, while 8+ years experience is required for a senior level.

Systems Engineer – The individual plays a key role in the design, planning, execution, and installation and support of new applications and technologies. Supports software and hardware upgrades to network servers, operating systems and applications. Responsible for backup integrity and recovery. Possess considerable logic and understanding to analyze and troubleshoot problems. With more than 8 years of experience and a college background, this individual can rely on judgment to plan and accomplish goals independently or as a member of a team.

Systems Architect – Leads the design and development of next generation of business systems. Possesses experience in software design and development with a focus on integrating business systems across multiple functional areas. Experience with design and development of custom modules/solutions across enterprise IT infrastructure including ERP. An advanced degree and more than 8 years of experience, this person is involved in complex multi-platform systems and applications.

Systems Administrator – Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems. Performs system backup and recovery. Modifies data files and monitors system configuration. Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures. A college degree and 1-4 years experience in a specific hardware/software environment is necessary for a junior person, while 5+ years of experience qualifies a person to a higher level.

Database Administrator – Coordinates physical changes to computer databases, codes, tests, and implements physical database. Designs logical and physical plans regarding allocation, security, and access of database. Calculates optimum value for the database. Involved in backup and recovery, monitoring, and full utilization. Reviews and corrects programs. Supports programmers. Provides 24x7 support to users and developers. Typically specializes in one or more types of database management systems. May train users. 3-5 years as junior DBA to 10+ years as senior DBA is necessary along with appropriate college degree. Develops test scripts, acceptance test procedures and documentation.

Database Architect – Designs and build relational databases. Develops strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery, and implementation of database. Cleans and maintains the database by removing or modifying old data files. Designs, develops and manipulates database management system, data warehouse, and multidimensional database. 3+ years of experience along with a college degree is required for a junior level, while a 10+ years and advanced degree is necessary for a senior level person. Involved in a variety of database associated tasks.

Project Manager – Designs, plans, and coordinates work teams. Follows standard project management industry practices. Understands business and technical objectives of the project. Creates project charter and work plans and follows the budget. Establishes project organizations and methodologies and defines roles and responsibilities. Documents risks and develops migration plans. Manages a staff of 10 or more. 5-10 years experience required in appropriate technology for a project manager; senior project manager has more than 10 years if experience.

Experienced in business process reengineering, identifies new applications of technology to business problems. Prepares solution options, risk identification, and financial analysis. Develops RFP's. A college degree with the appropriate technological background along with 3+ years is a must for a junior level; while 8+ years experience is a must for a senior level.

Evaluates network efficiencies and the quality of security systems. Reviews new or modified programs. Recommends program improvements or corrections to programmers. Involved in complete technical and user documentations. A college degree along with 3 years qualifies a junior QA while 8+ years is required for senior level.

Configures equipment and software to meet business needs. Trains other on the solutions.. Documents the solutions for on going support. Provides technical support and assists with the design of network solutions. Extensive knowledge in routers, servers, LAN is essential. A college degree along with more 8 years experienced.

Provides strategic input on overall network planning and related projects. Design and supports server systems and supporting software. A senior person has over 8+ years experience while a junior level may have 4 or less years along with a college degree.

Position overlaps of a network administrator. A degree along with 3 years experience is required of a junior level; while a 8+ years experience and a degree of creativity and latitude is expected of a senior level.
